Krenholm’s birthday is in May, but due to solving urgent issues the celebration of the 150th Anniversary was postponed until June.The anniversary celebration took place on June 16, 2007.
One and a half century in textile industry is a substantial milestone. Most of Krenholm-like mills have been closed down, but Krenholm keeps on going.
The celebration of 150th Anniversary started with a round table discussion. The participants were: a former light industry minister of Estonia Juri Kraft, General Directors of Krenholm: Oleg Klushin and Meelis Virkebau, chief engineer Ants Usk, Weaving Director Konstantin Gorlov, veterans of the facility, acting directors, managers of the production units and departments.
The Anniversary celebration activities took place on Narva Castle premises. Despite the financial troubles of Krenholm, the management of the company tried to make this celebration bright and cheerful.
Speaking to the employees, the General Director Matti Haarajoki, reminded of the influence that Krenholm has made on economical development of Estonia. Krenholm is one of the largest companies, which managed to survive through many dramatic changes in its history. Even today despite the tough price pressure from Far East market Krenholm continues its operation. We have a long history and we are proud of it, said the General Director.He also thanked every Krenholm’s employee, who had ever worked and kept on working for the great efforts to develop the company. He wished the company to live at least 150 years!
The celebration ended with magnificent fireworks.The city museum hosted an exhibition describing the history of the company and its production.
